Experience a Day in the Life of the Rockford Park District

ROCKFORD, IL – The Rockford Park District is more than just parks and recreation. The Rockford Park District improves the quality of life for citizens by providing a vibrant park system which increases property values, stimulates economic development, decreases juvenile crime, and improves our communities’ health.  The Rockford Park District also protects the environment, employs thousands of area kids for the very first time, and brings the community together to enjoy life.

To make sure your Rockford Park District is meeting the recreational needs of this and succeeding generations, the District is in the middle of a community-led master plan.  Community recommendations will help guide investment in District assets, along with decisions regarding obsolete, underutilized, or non-trending parks, facilities, and amenities.

On Friday, June 8, 2018 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. the District utilized Facebook and Instagram to provide a behind the scenes look at a variety of parks and facilities while sharing the organizations history, financial realities, and community impact. Throughout the day the District asked for strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities as another way to receive critical feedback to determine priorities of Rockford Park District services.  All feedback regarding recreational needs will be used to develop a five-year master plan to determine areas to reinvest in, eliminate, or strategically add.
