Indoor Winter Golf Opportunities at Mercyhealth Sportscore Two

Rockford Park District will hold monthly sessions of indoor youth golf lessons November 5, 2018 through March, 2019 at the Indoor Sports Center at Mercyhealth Sportscore Two in Loves Park. Golfers are grouped by age ranges for the classes, which meet once a week on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday evenings.

In February and March, 2019, the tenth annual Winter Golf Academy will be offered for youth ages 12-17. This Academy not only trains juniors on their golf game, it helps them prepare for life and golf through mental and physical training. Each week will consist of a classroom session, a full swing session, and a short game or workout session. Classroom sessions include various topics such as rules instruction (10 major rules changes this year), goal setting, and positive thinking, as well as golf course and life strategy.

Rockford Park District will hold two new indoor adult golf schools this fall and winter at the Indoor Sports Center at Mercyhealth Sportscore Two in Loves Park.

Adult Golf School for golfers ages 18+ of any skill level features a low student/teacher ratio, and will cover golf course strategy and management, along with the swing mechanics in all areas of the game in two-class evening sessions that start December 17, 2018, February 18, 2019, or February 20, 2019. Participants will also be able to see before and after video analysis of their swings. Fees are $40 per person for the December session, and $30 per person for each February session.

Senior Golf School for golfers ages 50+ of any skill level consists of three-day sessions of 90-minute indoor group golf lessons that meet Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 9:00 to 10: 30 a.m. for $75. Session dates are November 13-15, 2018, and December 11, 13, and 14, 2018.

Indoor Driving Range

During the winter months, golfers of all ages can keep their swing tuned up and work on their short game in climate-controlled comfort while enjoying the game of golf. A golf driving range is located inside the Indoor Sports Center (ISC) at Mercyhealth Sportscore Two, 8800 E. Riverside Blvd., Loves Park, IL, and is the only place in town to offer an expansive indoor golf driving range complete with turf, where golfers use regulation golf balls. The range, which is located on Field 2, is 95 feet deep (ball flight is approximately 100 feet), and has16 hitting bays.

The range is open November 1, 2018 through March 29, 2019 on the following schedule: Monday-Wednesday, 10 a.m.-10 p.m., and Thursdays and Fridays, 10 a.m.-3:00 p.m. (last bucket sold 30 mins. before closing). The range is closed on weekends, observed holidays, and during special events; a list of the dates is posted on the events calendar at, and also at the facility.

All ages are welcome; however, golfers under age 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Buckets are $6 each ($8 non-resident) per bucket of approximately 50 golf balls. This is one of many low-fee activities offered by the Rockford Park District for the community to enjoy. A monthly pass is also available for $55 ($70 non-resident); maximum three buckets of golf balls per day.
