Make this the year you learn to ride a horse, or improve your riding skills!

Openings are still available for select sessions of group horse riding lessons and camps this season at Rockford Park District's Lockwood Park and Trailside Equestrian Centre.

A variety of lesson programs are offered throughout the summer and fall for all skill levels ages three through adult, including: for children ages 3-6, the "My Little Pony" program provides an introductory riding experience, with monthly four-week sessions through September 10, 2018Saddle Up lessons for ages 7 and older offered in four-week sessions throughout the season, and Hit the Trails lessons for ages 10 and older, offered in four-week sessions in July and August.

Horseback riding camps are also offered: Little Buckaroo Pony Camp for ages 5-7, and Saddle Up Camp for ages 8-16, and Blazing Saddles Advanced Camp for ages 8-16 (pre-requisite - must have passed either Level 2 or Saddle Up Camp).

These popular lessons and camps fill quickly, so early registration is encouraged! Registrations are due at least one week prior to each session’s start date. Fee assistance is available for qualifying Park District residents; an installment payment plan is also offered. Information on support for riders with disabilities is available at 815-987-8800. Register online, or at Customer Service locations: UW Health Sports Factory in downtown Rockford, and Carlson Ice Arena and Mercyhealth Sportscore Two in Loves Park.

Semi-private and private lessons are also offered.
