Sounds of Summer Concert Series: Season Preview
ROCKFORD, IL – Enjoy summer evenings at the Sinnissippi Park Music Shell for Rockford Park District's free Music in the Park concerts presented by MembersAlliance Credit Union and co-sponsored by Rose Pest Solutions, held Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:00 p.m., June 12 through August 2, 2018. These concerts are part of the Park District's Free Sounds of Summer Entertainment Series featuring local and regional talents presenting shows encompassing a wide variety of styles and genres.
This year’s Music in the Park season opens Tuesday, June 12, 2018 (rain date Wed. 6/13) with a concert by Rockford's musical ambassadors and 2008 World Champions, the Phantom Regiment Drum & Bugle Corps, celebrating the 10th anniversary of of its 2008 world championship season. The concert will include a medley from that year’s hugely popular “Spartacus” production. Also joining the drum corps will be its local youth drumline, Rockford Rhythm. Selections from past productions will also be performed.
Volunteers will collect a suggested $5 donation from each patron at this concert as well as two others in the series, to help defray costs of presenting top-notch performers. Music in the Park is supported in part by the Illinois Arts Council Agency, the City of Rockford, and the Rockford Area Arts Council.
New this year - reserve space in the VIP Section! Enjoy the concerts from the new VIP Section for $15 per person per concert, available only by advance purchase. In addition to reserved area seating, tickets include a burger, brat, or hot dog, choice of side, beverage (beer, wine, or bottled), and wait service during the concert. Chairs and tables are provided; guests are welcome to bring their own chair for comfort.

Sounds of Summer – Free Outdoor Concerts and Entertainment All Summer Long!
In addition to Music in the Park, the Park District’s free Sounds of Summer Entertainment Series offers a variety of free performances throughout the summer, including:
Live at Levings Talent Showcases & Free Concerts sponsored by Alpine Bank/Midland States Bank feature jazz, soul, R&B, and gospel music concerts as well as an all-ages talent contest that welcomes musicians, singers, hip-hop artists, dancers, spoken word/poetry performers, comedians, and other performance talents to participate, Sundays June 3 and 24, July 8, 15, and 22, and August 5 (rain date August 19) from 4 to 8 p.m. at Levings Park. Talent shows will be held 4-6 p.m., followed by concerts from 6 to 8 p.m.
Domingos en el Parque (Sundays in the Park) presents concerts featuring Mexican, Tejano, and Caribbean music on Sundays June 10, and August 12 (rain date August 28) from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Levings Park. Kids Corner at Domingos en el Parque will offer youth the opportunity to make fun crafts, and various vendors will provide a variety of services and products, as well as diverse food options.
Tunes on the Terrace presented by Savant Capital Management on the Riverview Terrace at Nicholas Conservatory & Gardens features a variety of musical performers of jazz, easy listening, folk, and more, Wednesdays, June 20-September 19 from 5 until 8 p.m. Prairie Street Brewing Co. will provide beer, wine, and tap specialty drinks for purchase, and Nicholas Conservatory’s on-site Hibiscus Bistro will provide food and non-alcoholic beverages for purchase; dinner and drink service 5-8 p.m., music performances 6-8 p.m.
