FULL CIRCLE: LITTLE CITY FOUNDATION | OCT 5, 2012–JAN 6, 2013
The Center for the Arts at Little City Foundation in Palatine, Ill., has long recognized that creativity knows no boundaries. For more than 20 years this dynamic organization has empowered and challenged people with intellectual and developmental disabilities through its innovative fine art program. Full Circle celebrates the notable achievements of these gifted but often-unrecognized Little City artists, and explores the ways in which they use art to communicate. About 100 works of art are on view, including paintings, drawings, sculptures, computer-generated images and videos – plus a 40-foot mural created by the talented artists who work out of Little City's award-winning Center for the Arts.
The exhibition and its related educational programming are sponsored by the Thomas and Kathleen Laird Family Foundation; and partially supported by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council, a state agency. Full Circle is organized by Rockford Art Museum, guest curated by Patty Rhea, and on view through Jan. 6 at RAM, located inside Riverfront Museum Park for the Arts and Sciences at 711 North Main Street in downtown Rockford. The museum is open daily, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Regular admission is $7 for adults, $3 for students and seniors, free for children 11 and younger, and free for museum members. Donation Day is every Tuesday. For more information call (815) 968-2787 or log on to rockfordartmuseum.org.
