Youth Programming Endowment

This endowment sustains and enhances the Park District's ability to offer free and low cost recreation programs in the neighborhoods directly to the children who need organized activities the most. These programs keep young people busy during non-school times with physical activities and helps them interact with peers and establish positive relationships. Lockwood Park Children's Farm Rebuild - Campaign Goal $150,000

Thousands of families and children visit the Children's Farm Barn each year where we house our children's farm animals like ducks, pigs, llama and a calf. Staff also teach thousands of local elementary students Agriculture Education at the barn. The interior and exterior of the barn are deteriorating and in much need of a face-lift to keep it in good repair. Lockwood Park is a low fee, family facility and having a working farm with barn animals in an urban city like Rockford is a tremendous asset for learning opportunities, especially our youth.
