Jr. IceHogs Hockey Lessons
Lessons are available for youth (ages 3 and up) through adults, and are instructed by our professional coaches. Icehogs helmets and skates supplied for all levels. Children are required to wear appropriate gloves, elbow pads, and shin/knee pads. All lessons are held at Carlson Ice Arena. Please note that there is a two minute transition time between classes.
Chair Hockey
Students will use a chair to help balance and develop confidence on the ice. Child is accompanied by a parent.
Rink Rats
For the beginning student who has good balance. Basic hockey skating skills will be taught at this level.
Ter-Mites One
(prerequisite: Rink Rats recommended)
Students will use a stick for the first time, and learn basic hockey skills.
Ter-Mites Two
(prerequisite: Ter-Mites 1 recommended)
Students will learn fundamentals of passing, stick handling and skate to prepare for Jr. IceHogs League.
Mini-Mites League
(prerequisite: Rink Rats)
A fun way to get your child into a game before joining a Jr. IceHogs league.
Youth Learn to Play (ages 7-15)
Beginning hockey lessons for older youth. Players learn skating, puck handling, shooting skills and game fundamentals.
Skills and Drills Clinics (ages 8-adult)
Tim Mattila, coach of 11-time state champions Rockford IceMen and Director of Coaching Development for the Rockford Park District, instructes these sessions of intense skill development.
Power Skating (ages 8-adult)
Strengthen your hockey skating skills in this class!
Adult Learn to Skate (ages 16+)
Want to play hockey, but you can't skate? This beginning skating class will teach you the basics and get you playing in no time.
Adult Learn to Play
You're never too old to learn hockey! Players learn skating, puck handling, shooting skills and game fundamentals.
BlazeHockey
Is available for youth and adults with physical disabilities. Learn to play hockey as you manuever on sleds!
